BTW, how will the LB’s align with strong left? In pro ball, the SAM follows the TE, will he here? Will you relabel the LB’s sam, mike will, rover, etc?

That’s an excellent point, Mark. I didn’t think to relabel the LBs. I’ll have to do that, because the current way is confusing, now that I think about it. The linebackers do in fact swap sides, but I don’t tell people that, and that’s important.

Hmmm, I wish I could find some nice way to bring up a large graphic of the defense and put the men’s ratings on the field, because a lot of people might not know LCB covers the right end, etc. I need to think about that, as well as what to call the LBs.

That does give an idea about the iPad version, doesn’t it.

Hey, what about this? On offense, you tap the little play diagram, and it expands to a full size diagram, showing the defenders’ ratings. Maybe something like this for each defender: LCB (R7 / P6)

But that still doesn’t tell you who he covers, and of course, that’ll depend on zone versus man. Speaking of which, I was playing my main beta tester, and he was shutting me down, but I noticed he kept blitzing his right outside lb, so I promptly started throwing little passes to the area he was vacating – worked like a charm!

Anyway, another great catch, Mark!! BTW, the cornerbacks don’t switch sides – that is correct, isn’t it? And you can use that to your advantage by looking for the weaker corner.

Corners switching – prob depends on man vs zone, or the team’s strategy – a hot WR vs a good CB, etc. Hmm. You might have to research this one. Should you have the ability to put your best CB on his best wideout, etc? I wouldn’t just automatically do it – you can always just 2x team a hot WR. I’m really not sure what NFL is doing with this today…

I read up on it when I started this, but that was a while back. I know back then, corners stayed on their side, but you’re right, defenses can double-team.

And hey, that’s what makes it a chess match, right?

BTW, I think I mention this is the help, but if you double-team a receiver, the QB’s ability to switch off is affected by both his leadership and reading ratings, but if you blitz even one guy at the same time, you greatly reduce his chance of switching off.

If a qb actually throws to someone you have double-teamed, his completion percentage drops a lot, and the interception percentage bumps up quite a bit. And if you have a good pash rush, the sack percentage goes up, too (assuming he’s smart enough to take the sack and not throw into that mess!).

Congrats! The new version is great! I can’t wait for the iPhone4 fix.

What effect does changing the strong side have on the play results?

If it changes the outcome of the play depending on which hash mark the ball is on, can the ball position in relation to the hash marks be displayed on the play selection screen somewhere? It could be as simple as LEFT HASH or RIGHT HASH.

    Thanks,

Navy, thanks a lot. You can’t believe how disappointed I am right now. I’m trying to look forward past this incident. I’ve fixed it and submitted it to Apple, now waiting.

The strong side is mainly to place your wide receivers against other defenders. For example, say your flanker is great, but so’s their LCB, but their RCB isn’t as good. You can change strong sides to move your flanker against their RCB.

It also determines who rushes in a 3-4 zone, because the weak side LB rushes. Basically, you could try to force their better outside LB to rush rather than helping cover.

I’ve thought about using the hash as well. Maybe later this year?
