Multiplayer

Ok, now that the app is out, and you have a chance to play it, get the feel of it, and start thinking of ways you might improve the flow, especially on multiplayer.

I tried various things on the multiplayer. For instance, my first approach was faster, but not as “nice.” Let’s say you create a match where you’re the visitor. Well, you immediately get to call the coin toss. So let’s say you win the toss and choose to kick.

Here’s what happened in my first approach (and I may bring it back as an option): you called the coin, won the toss, elected to kick, choose to kick North, and actually made your kickoff option, all before the opponent ever got a choice. And if he’s not online at the time, then he wouldn’t see anything until he got the prompt, and he would see that you’re kicking, and he’s supposed to select his kick return options.

I liked that flow IF you’re both on, but I was concerned that some people might get confused.

So, what if, on the “Create Game” screen, I add an option (somewhere) that lets you choose the flow of the game – Nice or Fast? Fast would be like I say, you get to keep acting as long as you have choices to make, and wouldn’t hand the baton off until done. Nice would be as now, handing the baton off every time, which ensures your opponent sees every screen.

Apparently if you use 2 devices for a single MP ghame, you can end up playing 2 different games?

Mark, you can play as many matches as you want, but I hope it’s not too confusing. For example, you and I could be playing a match GB vs SF in the rain, another GB vs SF in the snow, and a match between Dallas and Atlanta.

Is that what you mean, or is there a bug?

[edited - it's true, MP games are saved on Game Center's servers, not on the devices, so it shouldn't matter - now, if someone invited you at the same time you invited them, you'd have two matches]
