Play-by-Play, PSF Free, and a few thoughts

Hey, Jerry has a great idea about creating a full-game play-by-play summary. What I need to do is work on the best way to create it and attach it to a game, and keep the amount of space required to a minimum, so I’m going to work on the design a bit.

As an example, it would have
– Detroit at Dallas, Dallas wins the toss, elects to kick.
– Dallas kicks off, ball taken at the Detroit 4, returned 1
8 yards to the Detroit 22
– etc

Sounds simple enough, but there are some gotchas there.

And if at all possible, I don’t want you to have to erase all your existing saved games (and multiplayer games) because of this change.

Even before then, though, I need to work on marketing. I’ve just submitted an update to the free version of the app – improved the buttons, and more importantly, added a link to the 2012 version in the App Store. I also need to create more videos, and I really need to find some magazines and review sites to contact.

That’s it for today!

Hello. Enjoying the game! My Dolphins are 4-1. I have some crazy ideas for future updates and/or versions.
1 Audibles- each team is allowed a limited amount of audibles per game. How it may work is….offense and defense call their plays. At the animatiin screen offense does not like match up so they can hit an audible button which brings up the select a play screen of a limited amount of pre-set plays , here the offense can change the play. Limit the amount so it does not slow down the game.
    2. Create Tournament- the ability to manually pick teams for 32 ,16,8 or 4 team single elimination tournaments. Ex 8 team tournament which features the best offensive teams.
    3. In-app purchase of All Super Bowl Teams which allows user the recreate all the past super bowls or using tournament mode (see above) create tournaments. For ex. Greatest super bowl team of the 60′s
    4. Wild Cat offense
5 Call for Measurement- certain plays may result in inches to go, for example 3rd and inches. Offense may hit Call for Measurement but which shows a new result screen, either first down or still inches to go. Thought this will add some suspense to game.

    Just some ideas !!!!!

I submitted 5 star review as jakeman!
    Keep up the great work

Thanks, John! Hey, be sure you go to the actual link in the App Store – I accidentally have the wrong link there in the “Rate My App” dialog. Can’t believe I missed it, but it still points to the Deluxe version rather than the 2012 one!

Hey, I want to get an update out in November. I’m swamped this week, but I think what I’ll do is take all the ideas that could be completed in one month or less and list them and see what people think.

I definitely want to do the past leagues idea. I also need to think of the best way to support Franchise Play, or maybe even an Extreme Mode, where you choose a team, and it starts out with really bad ratings, and you earn and use app tokens to level the team.

The difficulty in all the ideas I’ve had so far is with multiplayer. Speaking of that, if/when you try multiplayer, let me know what you think. Right now, I went with a “nice” mode that requires that each player get to see each screen before the player in control can advance, but I may offer a “fast” mode in the next release.

Ok, I’ll be honest, I don’t know what the Wild Cat offense is, so I’ll have to google it!

Audibles are a nice idea, although I’m not sure how to do it with multiplayer. I could do it in single-player mode, though, and then we could think of ways to get it into multiplayer (problem with multiplayer is that one person at a time “has the baton” – control – and the game is asynchronous. You may not even both be in the match when one person is watching the results. Still, for single player, I think it’s a great option!
