I created the current teams and players in July and August with the information I had then, and I think they were fairly accurate, but I really missed the boat on some (Calvin Johnson jumps out as a glaring error on my part!). So I’m creating this post for you to give your input on what tweaks you think need to happen and why. Please don’t put wishful thinking here, but realistic requests and explain why. Also, no arguing, let’s keep it civil – it’s only football. :-)

PSF 2013 is on the App Store!

Play in a downpour!

September 14, 2013 | Posted in Uncategorized | By

PSF 2013 was released this week, and I’ve already gotten some tremendous feedback from people regarding the app and what they’d like to see in future patches!

Just some of the ideas:

  • audibles (single player, maybe pass-and-play)
  • time outs at the line of scrimmage (single player, maybe pass-and-play)
  • Universal app with at least a basic iPad UI
  • different game levels to allow people to ease in
  • more leagues (like great teams from the past)
  • ability for people to change team and player names
  • maybe add Game Center achievements

How it All Began

I began playing board games with my brother when I was a youth.  We played war games like Third Reich and Firepower, but we spent most of our time playing football – Paydirt, Strat-o-matic, Bowlbound, anything we could get our hands on.

Years later, I was working on my Masters in Computer Science and decided that I wanted to write a football than Ken and I would enjoy.  Neither of us enjoyed the twitchy, unrealistic games that flooded the market, so I began working on the initial ideas.  The game was eventually published for the PC, Mac, and Amiga, but alas, real life compelled me to leave game development for “real” work.

Fast forward to 2010.  My oldest son had a near-fatal car accident, and it woke me once again to the brevity of life, and I knew I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, but I wasn’t sure how.  Well, my younger son had saved up and bought a used Mac, and he offered to let me use his to learn iOS development.  I took to it immediately, and a few months later, I decided to buy my own Mac and push forward.

In 2012, I added many options, including multiplayer, and now 2013 is the most polished version to date.  I’d love to see PSF grow each year, and I’m enthusiastic about expanding into other apps as well!
