I always enjoyed playing strategy games with my brother, whether it was war games, board games, or sports games, and I grew to love programming. There are plenty of arcade games where the coaching seems almost inconsequential, and I wanted to do something different. My first ideas centered on the algorithms, but input from my brother and friends resulted in the game growing beyond my dreams. It’s now more of a simulation, and of course, I expect to make it even better next year!
PSF was developed for the iPhone 3GS and later, iOS 4.3 and later.
Dogwalker is an old goat who has a Masters degree in Computer Science and has been developing software for more years than he can believe. He also enjoys camping, backpacking, biking, and playing the occasional MMO.
His son encouraged him to branch out and learn iPhone development (and Cocos2D) and write this game. He’d already written the algorithms and game logic, and thought it would be a perfect game for the iPhone.
Rumor is, his next game is a board game, but right now there are still many things to add to PSF!
You have several options if you want to play a quick game. First, you can use the Scenario Editor to create a scenario where it’s the third or fourth quarter. Second, you can turn off animation and/or the results screen (I’d leave at least one of those on!). Turning animation off speeds the game up considerably!
Yes! Time’s the biggest roadblock, but my goal is to make this as premier a football game as possible. My first goal is to implement turn-based network play, then – in no particular order – injuries, season (or league) play, multiple leagues, multi-game stats, and a few other offensive tweaks (man in motion, change strong side). I also have a big idea for next season, but will have to wait and see.
Honestly, I have no idea. I authored it in wordpress, and it’s hosted by iPage. They’ve looked at it, and at times it performs well, but other times, not so much. I’ll keep working with them to speed it up. Meanwhile, I hope you at least get a lot from the content!
