Scouting Reports

PSF provides a lot of information at your fingertips, information which can give you the edge over your opponent. Scouting Reports give you information on both teams. For example, if your strength is running, and his weakness is running, you might want to … well, run the ball a lot.

Note: other than fumble percentage and penalty percentage, ratings are 1-9, with 9 being the best possible.

There are five categories under Scouting.

Team Stats give you overall ratings for the team’s offense and defense.

Scouting Report, overall team

The Offense tab shows all your offensive ball handlers, including the quarterback, running backs, and all receivers.

OFFENSE:
L  – Leadership (Poise in tight game, avoid turnovers, come from behind)
R  – How well this QB reads defenses & avoids double-coverage
Q  – Quickness for outside runs (escapability for QB’s)
F  – Fumble percentage
St – Strength (important for inside runs and tight ends)
Sp – Speed (once he’s clear, how fast can he go?)
H  – Hands (his receiving ability)

You’ll notice a QB has additional ratings for Passing (completing passes) and Avoiding Interceptions. Both abilities are shown for Short/Medium/Long passes.  Better QBs will take a sack, find another receiver, or throw the ball away, while average passers will throw right to the defender.

Defensive ratings indicate how good the linebacker or defensive back defends the run and the pass (some are better at one than the other), as well as his reaction ability.

The Kicking tab provides ratings for the kicker and punter. The kicker’s ratings include his average kickoff distance, how well he kicks fieldgoals for each 10-yard range, his PAT %, and his longest fieldgoal.

Note: the actual distance for a fieldgoal attempt is seventeen yards added to theline of scrimmage. For example, a fieldgoal attempt from the 8 is 8+17=25 yards.

For the punter, PSF provides his average punt distance, how well he is at kicking “coffin corner” punts, and what percentage of his punts are blocked, as well as how well the team defends punts (percentage returned and average return distance).

The last Scouting tab is Returns.  This tab provides ratings for kick returners and punt returners: average returns, longest, and percentage each man returns for touchdowns.
