Once all 17 regular season weeks have been completed, Playoffs begin. In each conference, the four division winners and two wildcard teams make the playoffs. The first round of playoffs is the Wildcard round, with the two wildcard teams visiting the two lower seeded division winners. The top two seeds in each conference have a Bye.
The second round is the Division Playoffs round, with home teams determined by the rankings of the remaining teams in each conference. The winners of those games then play in the Conference Championship round.
And finally, the League Champship game pairs the two conference winners against each other for the ultimate bragging rights!
Important – overtime rules for playoff games are slightly different than for regular season games. First of all, playoff games cannot end in a tie, so overtime can last for multiple quarters, until one team wins.
See Overtime Rules for more information.
