Some people say that the best Offense is a good Defense (or is it vice versa). Bottom line is, if they don’t score, you can’t lose, so your job is to stop them before they can get in scoring range (you might want to Scout out their fieldgoal kicker to see what his kicking range is, because you can still lose if they can get close enough to score 3 points).
In PSF, you have lots of defensive options. Each selection strengthens you in one or more areas and weakens you in others, so pay attention to your opponent and try to be right more often than not.
The most important decision you make is your Focus – Run or Pass. That decision has the overall largest impact on the play results, because you’re setting the initial actions and reactions of your defensive men.
The following screens give you more details, but here are some general points:
- Man coverage can be excellent IF you have fantastic linebackers and defensive backs
- Man coverage is less susceptible to draws and screens and play action
- Man is better against short passes
- Zones are better against deeper passes, and slightly better against most runs, but weaker against draws
